Jat Singh

Dr Jat Singh, Principal Researcher at the Computer Science Department at
Cambridge and Turing Fellow, co-leading Accountability, Inclusion and Rights at The
Alan Turing Institute.

Dr Jat Singh is a Principal Researcher (≈Research Professor) at the Dept. Computer
Science & Technology, University of Cambridge. He leads the Compliant and
Accountable Systems research group at Cambridge and co-leads AIR
(Accountability, Inclusion and Rights) at The Alan Turing Institute – multi-disciplinary
teams working at the intersection of computer science and law, which considers
issues of governance, control, agency, accountability, rights, security, privacy and
trust regarding emerging and data-driven technologies.

He is currently an
investigator on a number of projects, including EPSRC's £3M recently launched
NetworkPlus on the Inclusive and Equitable Digital Economy, has led projects in the
millions of pounds, was previously awarded an EPSRC Fellowship, and worked on
collaborative projects with organisations such as Microsoft, Aviva, and the
Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). He is active in the tech-policy space,
having spent several years seconded to Government to help develop its national
tech-infrastructure strategy and served on advisory boards for regulators,
professional bodies and third-sector organisations. He has a background in both
computer science and law and has several years of commercial experience in
developing health and legal systems.
